So how would blogs disappear and why ?Gosh !
How is it in this world ? I mean, since the beginning of the world people are tempted by being famous.
Why should it stop ? What happened ? I need to know !
And according to your article, you should keep your blog alive. You could be know as the last blogger ever.(but not the least... ;) )
First explanation (among others of course !)
(beware of the Dark Side explanation !)
In the next year, first words will disappear from blogging. As shooting oneself even filming and scenarizing will become easier and easier, people will no longer feel the need to write about themselves, they'll just have to show themselves up online ! (even more, they will just show off online !). Internet will masively turn into milions of private TV shows where everybody will be allowed to get intoother people's lifes through images.
The show will be total.
Everybody will be an actor. Therefore no one will ever belong to the audience ! But doing so, people will cruelly understand that they no longer possess their own images as their photos and films online will be instantly diverted, as they start being "famous", by naughty hackers just willing to make some fun on their backs. All the more as the file crossing between all the online information (school registration, "white pages", commercial sites affiliation, online purchases ...) will show them definitively naked online !
While everybody will be watching themselves being watched by others, the Internet will reach a peak right before the big crunch.
The existing network backbones will no longer support the exponential increase of information exchanges over the web. Things will turn real nasty as it will be more and more difficult to surf from one point to the other (partial blackouts will be seen in some countries). Therefore, States and big companies will start setting a new network for their own use : The UPPERNET, while leaving the old web to cheap and private uses : the UNTERNET.
The brand new gate to the Uppernet will be expensive. And it will be much more expensive to put something online, as the spaces will be dedicated to official information or commercial transactions. This universal portal will be secured, which means that surfing will be prevented from any crash but also information sent online will be monitored.
The good old web will keep on living through technological communities that will provide servers as well as physical networks (such as WIFI routing), it will turn into what Hakim Bey predicted : a bunch of TAZs (Temporary Autonomous Zone), well "A" shall stand for "Anarchist" instead because the main way for exchanging will be forums where everybody will be able to say anything about everything. Some bunch of activists will keep alive the spirit of freedom by publishing online electronic dazibaos
Common people will soon leave the freespaces of the Internet to reach the paying comfort of the Uppernet. They will watch TVs and movies, read the news and appease their consumerist instincts through this clean place of surfing. They will also be granted a very small space on the Internet to put online some personal items such as family pictures. The rest will be forgiven. Guess there will be some sites left such as Youtube to post some funny videos online, but they will be checked by officials before letting on the air.
Things will get back to normal : you can only become famous by professionnal and official ways. Unless you dive into the underground.
